If notifications are bouncing with a Limit Exceeded reason, this is caused by Act On It's built-in message rate limiting. The settings controlling this behaviour can be adjusted by a system administrator.
Act On It includes a message rate limiting feature designed to prevent users from being unintentionally spammed with notifications. When a user receives more messages than the configured limit allows within a given time window, any additional messages are suppressed and logged with a bounce reason of Limit Exceeded.
This is expected behaviour β the limits are simply set too low for your current notification volume and need to be adjusted.
The quickest way to confirm this is the cause is via the Total Bounced Messages by Reason chart on the Act On It homepage dashboard. If Limit Exceeded appears as the bounce reason, follow the steps below.

Alternatively, you can drill into individual message records:
To update the rate limiting configuration, navigate to:
Setup > Custom Settings > ActOnIt Settings, then click Manage Settings
There are two settings that work together to control message rate limiting:
For example, if Message Count is set to 10 and Time Period is set to 60, a user can only receive 10 messages within a 60-second window. Any messages beyond that limit will bounce.
To allow more notifications to be delivered, you can either increase the Message Count or reduce the Time Period. If you're unsure what value to use, a Message Count of 100 is a reasonable starting point for most organisations with higher notification volumes.

β οΈ These settings apply globally and will affect all users. If notification volume continues to grow over time, it's worth revisiting these limits periodically.
If you're still seeing unexpected bounces after adjusting these settings, reach out to support with the relevant Sent Message details and we can help investigate further.
