Choose how recipients are alerted when a message of this type arrives. Different notification types suit different levels of urgency β a routine task reminder needs less interruption than a critical case escalation.

Silent β no indicators. Messages appear in the inbox only, with no additional prompts. The default for low-priority or high-volume notifications.
Highlight β a visual indicator on the inbox tab signals that new messages are waiting, without interrupting the recipient's current activity.
Blinking Tab β browser tab blinks to pull attention back to Salesforce from other open applications
Toast β displays a small overlay message on screen, visible without opening the inbox.
Sound Prompt β plays an audio alert to draw attention to Salesforce. Best reserved for time-sensitive notifications where immediate awareness matters.
Popup β automatically opens the inbox view when a new message arrives.
Focus β shifts screen focus directly to the new message, bringing it to the recipient's immediate attention.
Email β sends an email notification in addition to, or instead of, the in-app alert. Useful for reaching recipients who are not actively working in Salesforce.
Mobile Push β sends a push notification to recipients on the Act On It mobile app.
Confetti β celebrates the message with an on-screen animation. A small touch that works well for positive milestones and achievements.

More disruptive delivery methods are more effective when used sparingly. If every notification arrives with sound, focus, and popup, recipients quickly become desensitised. Reserve the higher-interruption methods for your most critical alerts and use lighter options for everything else.
Consider how time-sensitive the alert is and whether a prominent notification will help or disrupt the recipient's workflow. If the Manage Preferences setting is enabled on this message type, recipients can also personalise their own delivery preferences, giving them control over how they are notified.
Test a range of delivery methods with your users and refine based on feedback and engagement data over time.
